Summer is just around the corner! Our memories of the outstanding meeting in Indian Wells hosted by Jo Carol and Jon Hiatt and the Southern California Caucus are still fresh in our minds as we plan for next year. For the 89th meeting of the Pacific Coast Surgical Association we will return to Napa Valley, at the Meritage Resort and Spa over the Presidents’ Day Weekend from February 16-19, 2018.
Located at the southern end of Napa Valley, the Meritage is a new world-class luxury hotel and Tuscan-style wine country retreat, PCSA has negotiated an excellent room rate for our attendees. In addition to the usual outdoor activities of golf, tennis and fun-run, we hope to offer a couple of new and exciting interactive options for our attendees at this beautiful resort. The hotel has a shuttle to Downtown Napa, which is only 4 miles away. You can explore all of what Napa Valley offers, from wineries and restaurants to hiking and hot-air balloon rides. For kids, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is only a short drive away. If it gets cold or wet, the Meritage has many nice large fireplaces, a wine cave and even a bowling alley. So, plan early and bring your family!
Dr. DeVirgilio has just sent out the Call for Abstracts. Two new formats will be tried out for this meeting. Mini-podium presentations will replace e-Posters and we will have a session for short videos. As usual, there will be prizes for the Residents’ Competition and for the best paper by a New Member. The Scientific Program is the heart of PCSA, and our goal remains “to advance the science and practice of surgery”. Please send us your best work to share with your colleagues and friends.
The Pacific Coast Surgical Association is a vibrant regional surgical organization because of the active participation and contribution of its members. We want the PCSA to evolve to meet your needs and expectations. We will be sending you a Membership Survey soon to help us learn what works well for you and what can be changed. We will have a Strategic Planning Session later this summer and your responses will be the foundation for our changes moving forward.
So, mark your calendar, prepare your abstracts, and get ready for Napa!
